ElI5 please.... my husband and I want to run a 5k, or maybe even 10k next year in January, but we don't know how it works...

Sorry guys, very new in this thread....so, we want to run next year in January, we are not from USA so we would like to know as much as possible to make an informed decision. Situations like, do they have corrals for these too (and if so, how do they work)? Does Disney give you a running shirt or should we bring ours? Anticipation for bib pickup? Reservations for resort hotel can be done at the same time? Anticipation for showing up (we know it starts at 5.30am but obviously this can change)? Do we need proof of time for these too? Any experience for newbies you want to share? Any fun stuff while running or only at the beginning and/or after the finish line?

Thank you so much for any information you could share! (I apologize for my grammar, English is not my first language)

They have corrals for all race distances. Disney wants you there by 4:30. Plan on bringing your own shirt to run in, but a shirt is included with registration and there’s a ton of gear to purchase at the expo. Bib pickup is at the race expo - generally best to arrive on Thursday to go to the expo to pick up your bib, shirt, and any other gear/merchandise if you’re running on Friday. Entertainment before, during, and after the race - music, movie clips, character meet and greets, etc. You can book a hotel separately or as part of a package - by yourself or with a travel partner. No proof of time required on those races.

Hope that helps!

Theres more detailed info on their event guide, but basically you sign up for the race, show up 1 or 2 days before to pick up a bib at the race expo. On race day, take the shuttle or drive to the start line, and run!

Proof of time is not necessary, but if you're a faster runner, proof of time will help get you in an earlier corral. They do it to seed runners to make for a better experience. RunDisney runners in general aren't too good either at self seeding so they have this method.

They give you a few goodies, like a race shirt, but plan on running in your own stuff. You can wear the shirt and the medal around the parks afterwards to show off your accomplishment.

Personally, if you are coming from out of state, I would recommend doing at least the 10k because the 5k isn't long and sometimes, they give you crappy 5k shirts. That's my opinion but I live in Orlando, FL. If you want pics taken with the characters, its recommended to get there around 3:30am. You can also get the pictures after the race as well.

My husband is Oswald's fan, that's why we want 5k, but maybe we can do 10k next day too 😆... this is a very good tip! thank you so much!
