New to Reddit, why is that R/guitar won't answer me?

This dude was talking about how he got a butterscotch blonde tele, that he had got himself a good guitar. I asked the dude about what the serial number was so I could check it online. I got a bunch of downvotes? I made it topic asking if I just wasn't cool or something, which got removed because of some stupid bracket thing. I made another topic and no one's answering me. Am I not snooty enough or something?

Seems pretty weak that people so weird about serial numbers. Like I'm not trying to steal your s***
