Wanted to post sarcastically to all the doubters from the beginning about our new Def. Coord. You don't get too be a KC fan. Just kidding. Sports is about fun, but it does come with heartbreak. Became a fan when I moved to KC 88. Since after the 1993 there we had some long rough years. Even looking before the 90s back to 1972. A lot of it was on ownership and management. All those years not taking a QB in the draft became very frustrating. Lots of built-in excuses and no sense of urgency. Lots of good players never sniffing a bowl in KC.

I got fed up end of 2012 and finally wrote an open letter to the KC Chiefs twitter and mailed a copy. I never got an answer, but then Andy Reid was hired just shortly after. You guys are welcome!

Since 2012 I have put more time and energy into the Chiefs as basketball has died out for me mostly. I went on the blogs, .coms and FB. To my dismay, I was met with a lot of pushback from KC fans who are caught up in the good vibes way too much. Yes, cheering at the game does help and changes the game at times. BUT! Outside of that, everyone has different emotions about the game. Everyone deals and expresses themselves differently. The point I am making is a KC fan can be upset and express their frustration and that does not make them a troll or bandwagon fan. Period!

The Chiefs appear to have entered a long period of being good at this here foosball. Let's enjoy it for what it is, ride the waves up and/or down. This could turn out to be the best time in our franchise. Let the fans respond how they want. Positive or negative.

Remember: My frustration and negative letter to 1 Arrowhead Drive got us Andy Reid. Go Chiefs!

Can we also lump in the people who try to rip you apart if you're talking about the Chiefs and you say 'us' or 'we' or 'our'? We sort of have a stake in ownership because of how much we invest (time, money, emotions, etc). Yes, the Chiefs don't employ me, but I'll be damned if I'm not a part of it.

Yup. Those people are killjoys. Yeah, I don’t actually have any ownership/money/decisions making ability in the team. Yeah, sports are kinda meaningless in the grand scheme of things. But so is like 95% of life, so just have fun and enjoy it yah nihilistic bastard.

I landed in KC in 96, so I fell in love with the Chiefs during some good times - but maybe even more heartbreaking.

I have been waiting for a team that can play both offense and defense for 23 years, now, living in 4 more cities and three more states, but still lovin' the Chiefs!

Yes, been waiting a long time. Lived in Georgia, New York and now DC area myself.

Gate keeping, even sarcastic gate keeping, is always ridiculous.

Saying people can't express concern about a player or coach is just weird fanaticism.

Spags has had some great successes, but also some epic failures. If you aren't the least bit concerned then you're a blind homer.

I'm super hopeful it works out great, but I'm cautiously optimistic at best.

I knew people that worked with the Rams when Spags was in St. Louis who said he was a total lunatic control freak and no one was surprised to see the team crash and burn around him. Just for the record. So we shall see.

That said, he is a Chief now and has my full support unless I'm given a reason to feel otherwise.

Very true on all points. We can and should have some caution. Spags has some rings and he has some failures. He has been on both sides. I like that. And He beat the Pats twice. Just about anyone was better than what we had. Lets be a little better than average and we win.

I agree, to an extent. Who knows what next season might bring? We may need better than average. I just hope this was Andy's #1 choice and they're aiming to be the #1 offense AND defense.

But yeah, it definitely feels like the slightest improvement on D means Superbowl.
