My ALJ Hearing is coming up and I found out the judge is a guns & Jesus right-wing loon.

Why are people whose politics are staunchly anti-social safety net allowed to preside over Social Security hearings? How am I expected to get a fair hearing under someone like this, who probably thinks my illnesses are due to my being a sinner in the eyes of his god? This is nonsense. The judge has a 24% approval rating for the state he's in, whereas the national average for ALJ's is 43%.

Me being given SSI will not only save my life, but the lives of my girlfriend and mother too. If I can't get the hell out of the place I live, I'm not going to live another year, nor will my mother in the place she's in. My girlfriend's illness put her in a motorized wheelchair and she can't live in our apartment because it's not accessible. So she lives in an old folks home. She's in her mid-30's, living at an old folks home. I can't work to make the money to move to an accessible place.

I have the support of 5 different doctors that I've been seeing for 4 years. And it means nothing because the judge is crazier than I am.

Is there anything I can do?

Wear a second amendment shirt or something. Judges are human like all of us but at least it will help you feel better when dealing with the judge.

I don't think that'll work, but I got a chuckle from it, so thank you.

If you might qualify for legal aid, I recommend contacting legal aid agencies in your area to see if you qualify for free legal help. If you need additional time to obtain representation, judges should consider a request to postpone the hearing so you can obtain counsel.

SSA’s administrative law judges have a significant amount of discretionary authority under the law and their interpretations of the relevant rules and regulations can vary significantly.

I'm paranoid so I don't believe him. I won't believe him until there's a check in my hands. 4 years of backpay, apparently.
