Queen > Elvis. Why? No idea, but my 74 year old mother said so. Listen to this....

My mother’s a HUGE Elvis fan... I grew up hearing his music; seems like on a constant basis. She always reminds me that he died the year I was born, etc, etc.

Fast foward a couple decades, she watches the movie Bohemian Rhapsody on Amazon... ends up finding some Queen’s music on Apple Music, etc. Now she’s obsessed with them, says they were better than Elvis and hates that she didn’t experience them when they were doing their thing in the 70s. She made me teach her how to use youtube on the iPad so she could watch all the music vids, concerts, interviews etc. It's like that movie brought her back to a youthful existence of fandom. Mind you, she's dying of COPD brought on by smoking for 55 years and refusing to quit but...

NOTHING EVER has come close to Elvis.

FINALLY. I've exposed her to untolds amounts of music and she finally BREAKS! And who does it?

Queen.

Hate to be a bandwagon-er as well, but the movie definitely got me sucked into their music... like SUCKED in.

I think because I never realized that so many songs were Queen songs growing up, for one... and secondly, I was never big into Rock. I feel like most people get their love of 80's rock from their fathers. My dad never listened to music growing up, and he much preffered to sit in silence in the car, or listen to baseball... My mother was much more of a funk/pop fan.

Some people aren't exposed to some things until way later in life, but are instant fans, regardless.

that's exactly my perception. My parent didn't know shit about Queen. Yet I feel she should have because they were lucky enough to be young and able around the time Queen performed concerts. It's the first time I wished there was a time machine. So I can see it all in real time...

It's almost bittersweet that we can't go back, in a weird way though... The fact we can never see them perform with Freddie as the frontman almost adds to the "legendary" feel of the band. Same with (my personal favorite) Tupac Shakur. I think when we lose an artist like that before their time, it adds to the mystique of their work. Their essence is sort of captured in time that way...
