At some point during this chapter inside my head I started hearing Dan Carlins quoting voice from Hardcore History.

A++ would have him read this account of Waterloo again. 

The purpose of this Waterloo section?  I imagine it is connected to M. Thénardier, but maybe Napoleon was a childhood hero of Hugo, and the adult Hugo was writing about it as a means of coming to terms with his defeat. 

I'm feeling really bored by this part and don't understand why he describes so much the battle when all I wanted to know is what happened do Cosette and Valjean. I was enjoying very much this book until now. 

There's a good thing - chapters are small!

It isn't. I think there's only one line referencing Waterloo in the entire musical and it was cut for time (you can catch it in the Complete Symphonic Recording).

Thanks so much for this. I was waiting for today's discussion because I was going to ask if someone could paraphrase the important aspects of these chapters because I think it's all a little dry and boring and I just kind of space out haha.
