Can religion affect a relationship?

Me (F23) and my SO(M28) have different views on religion. I am a Muslim, I'm not the religious type, I don't pray five times a day or read the Holi Quraan everyday. But I believe in God and I try my best not sin.

However it annoys me sometimes that he doesn't believe in anything... Like sometimes I tell him that I wanna be with him in heaven after we die, but he just says I don't believe in all that. It scares me and makes me anxious when he says that.

Another example is sex, we haven't had it and I believe it should happen after we're married, he on the other hand thinks there is no need for getting married and he will be "forced to wait" till we're married. I definitely do not wish to have a premarital sex because I believe then marriage won't have any value. He disagrees.

I believe he is my soulmate. We love each other a lot but this freaks me out sometimes...

Am I overreacting? Can a relationship work with so different options on religion?
