New person wondering what unchained builds people use.

I started playing about a week or so ago, hit 600 hero power, and wondering how people build Unchained. I've seen a couple builds but as I don't know much about the game nor stat weights and such, I thought I'd ask here.

This is basically what I used as a base for my build. Fortunately, you have some freedom to adjust it to your playstyle and weapon preferences. Crowbill and sword seem to be the most popular but I’ve seen people who swear by the other melee weapons as well. Staves are all useful with Fireball probably being most popular. Personally I started with that but once I moved to Champion, I found it was too hard to avoid friendly fire. After trying all of the staves, I settled on Beam so I still have special sniping and horde clear abilities while having an easier time avoiding ff. Try a bunch of different options and see what clicks with you.

Friendly Fire doesn't hurt too much, especially with the abundance of temp hp. If I have a sienna in my party I expect to get hit, and the tougher the content the more I expect to get hit. So I would advice you to not worry too much about hitting teammates

Hmm good point. I never paid that much attention to how much ff damage was being caused. At this point, I actually prefer the utility of Beam over Fireball. After using the BoP on Zealot and the Beam on Unchained, I’m a compulsive tagger of specials/elites. I think I’d get frustrated switching back to Fireball and having to arc my shots for those long-distance blightstormers and fast moving assassins.

ff is horrid with the tombs.

How much play time do you have? That you hit 600 in one week. That means you already have 300 power items dropping and it took me like 80 or 90 hours of playing to get there

Here is a good build: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1680193203

I want to ask this too. Seems like a HUGE time investment - when you get to 30 you're usually seeing 230-240 power drops and it takes a long time to get enough chests to climb to 600.

It really doesn't take all that long to level your hero power anymore. Especially with all the difficulties being streamlined I want to say it took me about 50 hours to get all of my characters to level 30 and hero power 600 wasn't much long after that maybe 60. Keep in mind that was also when to get above 250 hero power you had to play champion. So like 2 weeks with 30 hours of play per week totally doable.

80 hours in the past week, and I've got full 300 with a red charm.

There are several options, but there are two options which I like. One is Fireball staff with barrage, the other is Bolt staff with hunter.

For the last one you focus on high crits chance. Basically using the staff to get overcharge and hunter buff up then go in and wreck everything with the crowbill.

The other is based on barrage. Crits are less important, but the idea is the same. Get overcharge and barrage stacks up then go in and wreck everything with the crowbill.

I've been recommended bolt staff with barrage. Never thought of using the fireball staff. Weapon-wise, I'm using crowbill/dagger and bolt staff.
