Contestants you really want to see on the show

There's 3 Quizbowl players I really want to see. (Note that there are a few great European quizzers I'd like to see on Jeopardy as well but that obviously is impossible). Here are the realistic options.

Andrew Yaphe: The greatest Quizbowl player of all time

Matt Bollinger: Top 3 all time player and Matt Jackson's Quizbowl rival who even shouted him out during his run. Bollinger is considered a slightly better player than Jackson so this should tell you how good he would be.

Jordan Brownstein: Best current Quizbowl player

15 years ago, I was active in the local high school quiz bowl circuit. There was one player from another school who consistently crushed us, and my understanding is he went on to star in college. I have no idea how prominent he actually was because I didn't follow college quiz bowl, but I'd love to see him on the show. His name was Eric Mukherjee.

You can imagine how dominant he was on the Kansas high school circuit.

Quiz bowlers often struggle with the narrower Jeopardy! canon (Matt Jackson being a notable exception). But Jerry Vinokurov certainly had difficulties, to give one example. (He gave a lot of incorrect responses where his response was too obscure for the Jeopardy! canon)

I actually remember watching Jerry's game live. Funny thing was he lost to Buzzy Cohen.

I just checked up the stats for that game and Jerry had the highest coryat score by a decent margin and the highest amount coming into final. He somehow missed a rather easy final even though it was about literature which is a common QB category. Just bad luck there.

Germinal is part of the quiz bowl canon but certainly not a regular play Final Jeopardy.

Obviously we need an international version so we can see Kevin Ashman and Pat Gibson. Really, you could probably just take whoever made the cut in the LearnedLeague championships last year and who hasn’t already been on the show and plop them in and they’d be a strong player.

Yogesh would be great.

+1 on Steve Perry. Placed 2nd in the World Quiz Championship which even the top Jeopardy champions struggle in.
