Already looking forward to the sequel :)
This is sick, thanks for this Drogo
really cool reading about how you prepare for opponents and choose tournament builds.
Also hadn't really thought before about the advantage of having all your pvz matches on the same day
Cool write up :).
In the write up you focused on high level decision making, the builds you played and how the games turned out because of these, but do you ever look at your macro/mechanics after games?
Like go, "Oh wow my probe production was really bad this game and I got supply blocked way too long" or are you confident enough in your mechanics that you don't really need to check that kind of stuff?
No games is perfect, but in general it's not 100% the reasons for a loss. Of course there's some games that are just due to very poor execution and pros look into that when it happensn, but it's not super interesting to write about
Really interesting Drogo, thanks for putting this together! Really enjoy your interviews and insights so this is definitely worth a read by players of all races.
Also not all of us are on tumbler or Twitter so the cross post here is a good idea. GL with implementing all this solid anakysis into your next tourneys, I'll be rooting for ya
I could only read the Reynor series for now but I really like this format. It has a personal touch and also is very informative when you saw the games already.
Nice blog!
Not sure if you saw my comment in the other thread but I will post my comment here too cause I am really curious about the answer.
as a player struggling with pvz now I gotta rewatch the games from WCS.
With that blog he won me :D
Also Drogo please can you explain in pvpz sometimes ive seen you go tempest and then voids and sometimes you choose carriers for the later stages.
Can you give me some examples when you go the first thing and when you do the 2nd.
P.S. I love you , you're my fav foreigner toss player and good luck in the playoffs of wcs winter! :P
Thanks for the support ! In term of Carrier vs Tempest/VR, I go tempest if I'm very confident against my opponent lategame or if I'm scared of dying to Broods, in general they are the weaker fighting unit but they also allow you to still be aggressive even if theres Broodlords out. Ideally I would always want to go carrier, but these days lategame is very hard against infestors even with carriers so I end up making tempests a lot. But honestly unless you are top GM Carriers are fine if you're not scared of dying to a broodlord push
Thanks for the answer man Appreciate it! :)
Hey guys, PtitDrogo here, I've spent some times Writing this blog about my strats and how the games went for the past month. I think it can be interesting and I'd like to hear what you guys think, or if you have any questions !
How do you deal with the fact that you killed 27 of Elazers drones with the triple triple and that he didn't have to call GG right there because zerg?
For real though, I remember you playing a similar build (with 2 Oracles and 6 Adepts IIRC) against Elazer on catalyst in last years WCS qualifier. But your followup was 2 Robo -> 3 Immo + Prism into 8 Gate all in.
Why didn't you go for a followup timing after all the damage that you dealt to Elazer on Cyber forest as well? Do you not believe in followup timings or did you just want to play it out safely?
In prac I was doing a timing follow up but it just never felt right, as investing so much into oracle and adepts delays your important tech to have a good attack by quite a bit
Against elazer I could probably have won the game with a push but I felt like thats how I would lose, I made a lot of units because I was really scared of dying stupidly to a counter all-in then decided I couldn't lose in a macro game. If I went for a normal follow-up the game would have been very much not close at all
Thank you for answering these questions! On cyber forest against big Gabe you went for Glaives as a transition? Am I assuming that transition correctly because Glaives is better for holding counter all ins/finishing the game earlier? If you wouldn't have done that much damage, you would probably go for blink/charge right?
yea glaives makes the game much easier than Blink or charge, it's a bit of an oldschool style but it works great there imo. I will pretty much always go for it
