NetBeans and IntelliJ on one PC

Hey!

I am currently using the latest version of IntelliJ with Java 11. I'd like to start the MOOC course since I've heard a lot of good things about it. I know that their TMC plugin doesn't work very well with IntelliJ, that's why I'm thinking about NetBeans. Is it possible to have both NetBeans (with Java 8) and IntelliJ (with Java 11) on one PC without any problems?

Sorry if it's a common question, couldn't find the answer using the search function.

Yes it is. You can even install two JDKs and use with the same IDE

Got it, thank you.

I listed finished Java 1 using IntelliJ only and TMC works fine with it. I use a Mac and Netbeans kept failing installation so I just went with IntelliJ, no problems.

While there may be a need to use different IDEs for different tasks, I would like to recommend that you use to learn what I consider to be a enterprise level IDE, and in the modern world of Java, this is IntelliJ. When you start looking for work, it will be your knowledge of tools that will get your foot in the door.

Get a Pi and run your own gitlab repo, build projects, have fun, and build skills faster than your peers.

Why a pi? Is there any benefit to using this over a native linux machine (a PC, not a pi) or a VM?

Just the price tag. By all means if you have another resource, that is great.

Ahhh okay, that's what I figured but wasn't too sure. Thanks.

It is possible but I really would advise you learn IntelliJ it's more and more becoming an industry standard.

I have them both on my pc. I started learning with Netbeans and now switched to Intelij because I just started the mooc.fi challenges via the TMC plugin. Both work very good even when both are open. But when InteliJ is open I do feel that it slows my laptop a bit.

I've been using Intellij on OSX. Weeks 1 and 2 worked fine.. I hit week 3 and I'm having all sorts of issues with Intellij now.
