Tap Air Portugal Carry-On

I'm traveling Chicago to Lisbon to Cologne this summer on TAP, and had some questions about the carry-on luggage for the airline in economy class. How strict are they usually with weight/size? I wanted to take a small duffel bag as my carry-on, and a standard backpack as my personal item. Thoughts on if that will work? Or should I plan something else. Thanks everyone!
