Sesame Street is Praxis

Long story short, I’m a new(ish) dad and my daughter is just getting to the age she can enjoy TV. We watch a lot of Sesame Street.

Sesame Street is consistently introducing kids to people who drive a bus, or work as cashiers, or in factories. Presenting these people as adults who do valuable things and are worthy of respect. It’s fucked up that that feels weird to see on TV but it totally does. Everyone portrayed positively on TV is a cop or a lawyer or a doctor. Not Sesame Street tho. It’s actually a big deal.
