BB30 v BB30a compatibility

Hey guys.

So I have a cannondale si crankset from a few years back that was in a bike with a bb30 bottom bracket. I’m getting a new frameset that uses bb30a. Would the old cranks work with the new frame / could I st something to make them work?

Edit for anyone searching

All that was needed was the cannondale spacer kit, part number kp483.

Cheers. I’ll have to look into a bb adapter to use a shimano crank instead then 🙁

Not entirely. Depending on the age of your SI crank, it should be modular. Cannondale designed all of their hollowgram cranks to play nice with one another.

All you would need then is part number KP250. A 109mm spindle to accommodate 68 and 73mm BB shells. I know this particular piece because I bought it for a SISL crankset and the order specifically said this will make cranks work with BB30 and BB30A shells.

That looks interesting and like it might work. The crankset is from 2014 and I’m able to fully separate the crank arms from the spindle, so I’d assume getting a longer spindle and the necessary spacers should solve the problem.

Make sure you grab that specific one and you’re set!

U/deesea is correct. You just use KP250/ , but then use a 2.5mm spacer on the non-drive side instead of a 7.5mm. The spacer kit is KP483/ and the wave washer is QC618/.

Hahaha, thanks Cannondale. Reason #274 to avoid pressfit

Just as an FYI, as deesea posted, with the cannondale si cranks you can replace the spindle, or in my case just use different spacers to swap them between bb30 and bb30a bottom brackets.
