Came back after two years of hiatus, my aim is still good but other than that, I fucking suck. Need help

Hi,

I'm not sure if posting here will help, but as the title says, I came back to CS after a break of two years, it didn't take me long to get my aim working again, but other that that I'm playing really terribly, making dumb decisions and playing either too passive or agressive. Anyone have any tips for getting out of this fucking slump?

I did the same as you, was in SMFC before I stopped for around 18 months and have been playing for a bit over a month again now. For me just playing and making notes of the wrong decisions I make has really helped me, so at the end of a game I can review my notes and keep them in mind for next game.

Good idea, I might have to try that, or watch my demos

ranks are a lot tougher now than 2 years ago, especially if you have prime. Just play and focus on getting better, don’t fixated on your rank. A lot of “high ranks” are silver nowadays and can’t get better because they’re fixated on their past.

Yeah I get that ranks improve and you'll get rusty after a hiatus, but if you were high rank before you won't be stuck in silver.

Depends on your trust factor I guess. I was MGE before I quit(old rank, so it's equal to around GN3 now) and I got placed in silver 4. Took me only a week to get out as I got my aim back, there were barely any smurfs, and if there were there would only be one or two max.

  1. Aim can always be better. If you get actual good aim you'll be able to carry yourself to at least mg1 no matter how bad you play. So keep working on aim. Can never get too good at aiming.

  2. If your finding your getting caught out a lot, just learn from your mistakes. Bearing in mind that at every rank stage people play different too. Which is why people struggle when they rank up as the meta changes as the skill increases. What can help you learn the spots to look out for is have a week playing one map only till you learn it. Then play another map for a week. And learn all the spawn timings and such.

How did you get your aim back?

Way back when I practiced my aim like theres no tomorrow and was really fixated on it, so I guess the muscle memory kicked in easily. I also do alot of other shit that requires accuracy from your hands so that could make a reason too.

When I came back I just played HS deathmatch alot
