Just got prescribed Concerta.. and I have a couple questions
I was prescribed Ritalin when I was 9 years old and I was on it until about 11 or 12. At the time I begged to be taken off of it as it made me feel awful and numb, completely dissociated from myself. Jump to now, Im 22 and the symptoms of my ADHD/ADD are driving me crazy. I started to do some research on the current ADHD/ADD medications that are out there (since i havent been on any for years). I went to see my doctor today and asked about possible medications I could be on. We talked about Vyvanse, Adderall and Ritalin. I told him exactly how horrible Ritalin made me feel and how I wasn't interested in trying it again. At this point I wasnt aware of Concerta and I hadn't done my research on it. I now know that it is basically an XR Ritalin.. (it is my fault for not educating myself on all the medications available, otherwise I would have said something). He also told me that he has rarely heard of adults being prescribed Vyvanse or Adderall which confused me. So basically, Im wondering what you guys think of him prescribing me Concerta when I said I didnt want Ritalin? Excuse me if I have got anything wrong in this post, Im not too educated on ADHD/ADD medication and I'm very open to information. Thanks!
