PSA : Ochran assassin is an absolute beast with riot
I like the art, but I never saw [[ochran assassin]] being played, so I tried to brew something to make her viable.
This card is a bit weird, it was probably designed this way to be a removal speel that also fuel undergrowth (a bit like [[kraul harpooner]]), but contrary to the harpoonner, she don't have interesting base stat, are is too slow to really matter, because you have to wait a turn to actually attack.
So I've tried her in some jund deck to give her haste trough riot, one gruul stompy deck splashing black for her, and one golgari undergrowth deck splashing red for domri and rythm of the wild, and damn is she strong when she got haste. I didn't really get it before I play with her a few time, but her ability isn't just "destroy target untapped creature", it's also "make all of your creature unblockable for a turn", because since every creature must block her, none can block anything else (unless you are very unlucky and are facing the only person playing [[knight of sorrow]] or [[ghastbark twins]] in constructed).
With riot, she is an absolute boardbreacker, especially since both undergrowth and riot deck tend to build high. No block for galtha or Etali. No block for that 14/2 hasty harpooner. No block for the sundeer shaman. No block for your [[molderhulk]] or [[rhizome lurcher]]. The only deck who really give these jund assassin trouble is RDW, because of the chainwhirler first strike and the lack of healing. Even control deck, who don't care about her deathtouch, are struggling because of rythm of the wild making the threats hasty and uncounterable.
