Do I follow my dream? Or do I keep going on the comfortable state that I’m in?
I (22m) am one of the many former youth pro academy football (soccer) players who tried to do much too soon and ended up getting injured . I stopped playing due a deep depression , I gained a lot of weight , and it wasn’t until I met my now wife (24f) that pulled me out of depression , and got me back on my feet, I have a decent job and I’m working hard to move up in the company I lost a ton of weight, not in shape but not how I was before I met my wife . Great right ? I thought so too ... until the other day. When there was a reunion of sorts , and I participated in a charity Football Tournament, with former teammates, coaches etc , and I played (I’m a Keeper) o played so well , and it all just felt so natural to me, and it felt I was finally whole. Now ever since that day I’m sad.
I don’t know if I should get back into shape and follow my dream of becoming professional, or if I should just stick to the path that has been laid out for me . I talked to my wife and she told me to do what my heart tells me , my father says it’s a mistake , and my mothers said the same y wife said .
TLDR: Do I sacrifice what I have built in order to follow a dream that could more likely than not , not pan out, but if it does or does not I will go into life with no more regrets.
P.S : yes when my wife was getting to know me and she asked what position I played I said “I’m a keeper , and I think your family will think I’m a keeper too”
