Shifting to N at stop lights (auto tranny)
I’ve always had an intuitive feeling that sitting at longer stop lights with my car in D is hard on the engine and/or other miscellaneous parts. Does anyone know for sure if shifting to N at stops relieves the tranny at all, if sitting in D causes unnecessary wear, or if shifting to N causes unnecessary wear? Always wondered about this. Thanks in advance.
