When you already left one cult, but algorithms on Twitter wonder if they can interest you in another

My boyfriend and I accidentally ended up at an exmo meetup in Utah Valley while at a coffee shop visiting family out there, so we joined in. Part way through two people showed up asking everyone if we'd accepted Jesus into our hearts after having left Mormonism. Without missing a beat my boyfriend responded, "We just left one cult that told us what the right and wrong way to live is. We're not quite ready to jump into another one." Despite being an atheist, I'm happy if someone who leaves Mormonism finds personal peace in another faith, but by god please do not try and recruit me.

I wonder how much they have to to promote themselves like that
