What do people mean when they say "neutral game"? I see it all the time but don't know.

3
awakeofvultures•

Neutral game is when you're not in your super. in PvP, Nightstalker's Way of the Wraith has a good neutral game cuz of it's wallhack perk and smoke bomb. Arcstrider bottom tree also has a good neutral game due to Focused Breathing and Combat Meditation.

I see. Thanks m8

I’m so bad. Every time I go into comp, I feel like I let my team down. Whether it’s giving up heavy due to a lost gunfight or not being able to counter a super fast enough, Fabled just seems like a pipe dream at this point. Can I get some help or pointers?

Current loadout:

  • The Last Word (or Ace)
  • Retold Tale (Corkscrew, Appended Mag, QuickDraw + Full auto) or curated Twilight Oath
  • Hammerhead (Feeding Frenzy + Surrounded)

Hunter, Spectral Blades + Stompees or Gwisin Vest

My BNet is Komma#11470, I would also like more homies to help me reach Fabled. I’m in NA.

Currently around 400 glory.

EDIT: Took all your advice, and grinded Comp with some good friends. Got Fabled!

ToastyyPanda•

Just from checking your stats alone it shows you're a decent player still (your KD is about the same as mine in comp). Your KD dips a little in countdown and control though, I assume that clash/survival game modes are you favourite?

Is it possible you need some work in those objective modes? A good tip is to look up the best control points in control and to always hold 2 of them while controlling the spawn points so they don't get flipped.

Also, do you play in a team with voice chat usually or have you been solo this far? I've only been able to solo to about 1000~ glory, and it can get extremely hard too. Even just text chat can work wonders.

If it's 1v1's you're having a hard time with, jump into rumble to improve. I even avoid heavy ammo/supers when in rumble to just get a good idea of where I sit in the lobby using guns only.

It's hard to give you tips only based on that though. Have you tried recording a game of yours and rewatching it to see where you failed?

KommaisonReddit•

Control has always been my kryptonite, and I usually play with clan mates. Most of the time if it’s not control we just camp the heavy ammo and let out Wardcliff guy pick it up.

I’m not that familiar with map call outs so I’m still learning those, but usually sticking to a teammate like glue has worked.

You are right in that solely focusing on gunfights suits me better, since in most cases I’ve practiced enough to be able to win in gunfights with TLW. However, I still feel like I’m at a disadvantage in shotgun battles due to my poorly rolled Retold.

TL;DR shotguns and control are my weakest points probably

1
ToastyyPanda•

Try out other shotguns man. I was using wishbringer for awhile until I realized I loved retold tales. Sometimes the feel of them is more important in my opinion, because if you're close enough to the opponent, it's going to kill regardless of perks and range lol. Maybe try a shotgun alternative, like fusions/sniper?

Also, I have to admit I hated doing callouts while playing. I was a solo player for awhile so I never needed to. To start though I'd keep my eye on heavy and call out when it's 10-5 seconds from being available. Sometimes that alone can swing a game into your favour. Call out if you're supering in advance and also if you notice an enemy who popped theirs too. I also call out snipers a lot to let the team know they can't go down a certain lane and to flank around instead. This has helped us a ton of times (except for the ones that don't listen and walk in and get head shotted anyway lol).

Eventually I started to learn the map and the areas and called them out as well, but honestly I hate some of the names lol. Someone might say "1 in caves" and I'm like "wtf which cave, there's like 3" lol. So I'm still working on that. But I do use some like: their spawn, our spawn, mid and the ABC control points (even if it's not control game mode) as well as the countdown bomb locations, which seem to work ok. Better than no communication at least.

I don't even use a shotgun when I got TLW on which is about 90% of the time. I find that TLW is a great counter to shotgun apes I just backpedal and gun em down. Usually i'm using a Last Perdition or a Distant Relation in my energy slot i'm not very good with snipers but sometimes i'll use a Twilight Oath or Fate Cries Foul. On PS4 btw.

ImNotReallyHereYet•

Are you running 5 super mods as you get your super quickly and create orbs for your team mates vice versa? Also controlling heavy is team orientated, get ace of spades as it’s range is very good and probably the best hand cannon in the game to pair with a shotgun retold like you said or farm mind benders. or tlw and sniper is ok as having at least 1 sniper on your team is very beneficial.

1
Kirosuka•

I just read the update for Arcstriders disorienting blow, and the analysis of the dodge for Arcstrider that was just posted.

I was just wondering if anyone had thoughts on using Gemini Jester with bottom tree Arcstrider, if the effect would synergize well? Either as a meme or for practical use? I imagine Dragons Shadow, Sixth Coyote, or Stompees are probably still better for their neutral game bonus.

I've also heard but haven't tested if the GJ effect is bugged occasionally?

2
UpInYourBusiness•

Gemini’s and bottom tree arc will be make a good meme hitter in QP. I wouldn’t say it’s competitive though.

3
Kirosuka•

That's what I was thinking, obviously someone like cammycakes can wreck with anything but maybe for the average Guardian it would just be a troll loadout

2
UpInYourBusiness•

Use it enough to know it inside out and you can wreck with it. 👌

2
Kirosuka•

Hold my ether

3
Penguigo•

GJ is really strong and has a lot of synergy with bottom tree arc. Lots of players are messed up badly by the disorient. Plus the default roll has traction. I wouldn't call it a purely QP build, you can definitely succeed in comp with it.

I prefer Wormhusk though. The health every 10 seconds really helps escape a lot of sticky situations or reengage quickly.

2
Kirosuka•

I'm actually running it right now and having a blast double removing people's radar (dodge, jump, harass, melee, kill). It's definitely a fun loadout, it kind of relies on good timing, and I'm trying to determine the effective range too. But I totally agree

2
coolDogGuy•

i’m p new to hunter and was wondering what grenades are considered BiS for each element? I’m particularly lost on which grenade to run with spectral. also is one dodge better than the other?

2
zackman986•

To piggy back on this question, I just hit 50 on my Titan last night and I've been enjoying middle and bottom tree arc, but what are the most popular grenades? And what's the de facto jump people recommend for Titans?

2
DoomLordKazzar•

Pulse and I recommend catapult. It's tricky at first if you're used to strafe.

2
Trozack•

Pulse nade is my favourite and I always run strafe jump

1
UsedToLurkHard•

For general use I'd say Vortex, Arcbolt and Incendiary. Not that the others are weaker, there are stronger options, but these will generally do the job everywhere.

The only one that isn't so good but still works is probably flux. It's competing with arcbolts that can splash a group for ez cleanup and skips that are great at harassing.

Spike is an odd case in that it can do a fuckton of damage but requires careful and creative placement and your enemy to not shoot it, and it doesn't quite work as well as the other two with smoke in that you would want to angle it somewhere else instead of the classic double throw wombo combo.

1
travvvvvvv•

Is Titan any good anymore? Just came back to Destiny after a while and feeling really underwhelmed with Titan. Should I just main my hunter?

2
aeterna-•

sentinel is excellent in comp. especially if you get gud at landing suppressor nades on roaming supers.

3
seanobreezy•

Bottom tree striker is a lot of fun.

3
Penguigo•

Sentinel bottom tree is my main. OEM is still great and Suppression grenades are amazing right now. The utility of a shoulder charge is nice and the super is average or better. Shields are ridiculous!

I hear mid tree is good, too.

1
Rotatix•

Does doing 5 valor resets in a single previous season count towards the Redrix Broadsword quest this season? I.E, is it retroactive? I want to say it wasn't initially, but I thought I read somewhere they changed it.

2
zackman986•

The other response seems a little ambiguous to me, so just to clarify, if you get 5 valor resets this season but are still working on earlier stages of the quest into next season, you're OK. I actually just finished all of the steps earlier this week but did my 5 resets last season.

4
JadenYT•

Nope it is retroactive but only in that season

First season trying to hit fabled, sitting at 1500 Glory, ~1.2 KD, solo queing. Truly seem to be going 50/50 on my matches, no big swings either way. Any advice on just playing the min 3 matches per week vs. really going for it and hopefully hitting a good streak? I would still need to hit all my hand cannon kills & headshots after hitting fabled. (i dont think my game play would hold up using HC to fable)

2
Penguigo•

Math it out. Project what your glory will be the last week or two of the season at 3 games per week with 50% winrate. If that nunber is 2100 plus, stay the course. If you're falling short, you'll need to play more per week and rip a streak at some point.

Alternatively LFG a solid team for a play session or two.

3
DoomLordKazzar•

Fully Masterworked Jade Rabbit vs Fully Masterworked Polaris Lance and why? Ive had lots of success with Polaris Lance so far but I havent touched Jade in a while.

2
Whoa_Bundy•

Personally I would prefer Polaris only because it doesn't use up my primary slot but that's just me

0
tennen88•

I'm currently at 1370. Am I on pace to make it to Fabled before the season ends? I play three games a week and continue if I am on a streak, but otherwise stop playing. Should I continue this or just play a bunch?

2
RiseOfBacon•

You’ve got about 6 weeks left (Ends start of June) so aslong as you aren’t losing all 3 games and keep making gains you’ll get there

Good luck!

3
Whoa_Bundy•

What is the minimum you can have? I'm at 1174

1
RiseOfBacon•

Depends on how you’re getting your streak so I really don’t want to say incase you follow it and it’s short

Basically the rank before Fabled you’re getting 120 points for your bonus, more in the leagues before it. Ideal way when doing it passive is 2 wins minimum for your 3 games and then repeat until Fabled. Lose 2 and win 1 and you’ll make minimal gains

3
Whoa_Bundy•

Hey it’s you! Thanks for the reply.

1
patchinthebox•

Has there ever been a bonus glory weekend? I know there has been bonus valor and infamy weekends. But glory?

2
RiseOfBacon•

Never Glory. Just Valor and Infamy

The scoring in Comp is much easier to build up this season though so still worth pushing

2
AC1DZ96•

How much glory points do you get for a win and lose for a loss in the competitive playlist?

2
nabistay•

I had a post, but it was removed and I think this might be the place for it? Unsure. Please let me know if I'm wrong, and where to post instead. This post is the weekly question thread according to the faq, but a month old.

Is there anything that officially says that fireteam matchmaking in competitive is set by the highest glory on the team? Or is it all anecdotal?

For the life of me I cant find a reliable way to even survive blade barrrage as a titan. Whether I predict it and have my bubble or wall up or shield it always gets me. Whats some good tips

1
ThirteenJesters•

You can't really ever tank a BB. You have to run for it. So if you have your super active and you know they have a BB try to flank them from around a corner, jump towards them, and when they get high up to try to Blade Barrage you quickly swipe backwards to the corner. They travel time on BB may seem fast but its actually long enough that you should be able to bait out a lot of BB's against your average player.

Without super all you can really do is try to predict the Blade Barrage. Enemy hunter running towards your team with their primary out? 3 of you grouped up together? Run away because there is a 99% chance that they have a super they're looking to pop on you. Solo Blade Barrages are tougher to predict and you'll usually die without really fast reactions + good positioning or the enemy just aiming really badly, but also it doesn't matter too much. If they solo Blade Barrage you without your super popped they just majorly screwed up. If Blade Barrage isn't used for a multikill or super shut down its a waste. Take that death like a champ because now they have one less thing to stop your own supers

2
legitnewt•

Also, I wouldn't recommend popping a super to counter blade barrage.

1
PushItHard•

Code of the commander shield can absorb a blade barrage. Just keep moving forward, so any blades that land behind you don’t kill you.

It’s a shutdown super. It’s not supposed to be easy to counter. It just has limited utility.

1
DoomLordKazzar•

Ive had a BB point blank me with it while he was in a corner and I still died though

1
PushItHard•

If blades hit the floor, you’ll die. Hold the shield up and either walk/jump forward.

3
Janvs•

Give Antaeus Wards a try, it's not consistent but if you're both rounding a corner and you slide you have a decent chance of reflecting the BB.

It's the little things.

Can someone evaluate my crucible performance? I'm just curious how I'd be viewed, I'm not great at crucible by any means.

Any tips on aiming better with Ace? I have a nice spare rations that I've been using, I find that that and MC get me get more crits than when I use Ace. Should I be using a 180 HC as a beginner or should I try to get better with Ace?

On PC

Also PT2:Since there's no elo rating system in this game, you can basically lose all you want in comp and just climb back up with no loss of glory gain right?

1
tokes_4_DE•

Console or pc? My advice is only really for console. But a helmet with enhanced hc targeting helps me a ton, and pacing your shots is absolutely crucial. If you shoot at max rof youll have ghost bullets going all over, instead, see how fast the gun shoots first, then take one quick pause before firing off your 2nd, 3rd 4th etc round. Just one split second allows your gun to settle back down, and it gives you that extra split second to make sure youre still aimed for the crit shot.

2
EnSabahNur5142•

Good advice right here. Especially good if you, like me, are running easy mode with The Last Word and used to TLW.

1
CaNANDian•

Yes glory gain will be the same if you go to 500 back to 0 and then up again.

1
iprothree•

Great lets me practice more without worrying about winning then.

Pretty sure it’s a timer per kill. Kinda like a clock that gets rewound every kill.

1
imbutawaveto•

My power went out during a comp match yesterday. Got the"oh no you quit" message. Does that mean I won't get my glory bonus this week?

1
Theplasticsporks•

No. If you finish three games you get it, even if you get a suspension

2
imbutawaveto•

Ok cool thanks!

1
AntisocialHipster•

Is Mountaintop quest progress the same in Iron Banner as it is in quickplay? Or is it extra progress like in Comp? I just wanna know of it's worth waiting until Iron Banner because Mayhem is just killing me

1
Penguigo•

No extra progress from IB

2
wildcoffeesupreme•

I am currently sitting at 2060 glory. Will the weekly bonus get me fabled for Luna's? I am fairly certain it will, but I can hardly believe its over.

Also, I am a few hand cannon headshots short. I just need to hit 2100 at some point in the season, right?

1
soasasiatrf•

I think reset will get you 120 points, so congrats guardian!

And yes, the game will remember the highest glory reached in a season. Do you can focus those headshots without a care for winning or losing!
