PVP One-Shot Systems

I am running a Burning Wheel scenario called The Gift at a convention in 6 weeks.

I love this scenario. It's about a delegation of elves visiting the newly crowned dwarven prince. The players play as an elf or a dwarf and come into conflict with the opposing side and at least one of their own side because of their beliefs given by the character sheets.

Characters plot, argue and fight before it all resolves in peace or violence and we see who ends up where. The argument subsystem shines here with it's tactical game and binding compromises. There's a dwarf PC that can go mad with greed and an elf PC that's on the edge of despair and these things can kill them or otherwise take these two characters from play. There's plenty of enmity without anyone looking at their sheet and saying "Oh, I see I'm playing the villain.", that's something that comes up at the end, "Oh, wow, turns out I was the villain..."

The GM doesn't really do a lot, it's mostly whispering to the players "How dare they say that to you? You aren't going to take that are you?", the only NPCs only get involved if brought in by a player. You just have to know the rules and systems.

This kind of game isn't favoured with the Burning Wheel folks these day. It's more of a long term game system not really made for one shots. They released a Viking Funeral scenario they'd been using for demos but stripped down to a parlour LARP which I also really like.

Are there any games that are built for this kind of play? Or any game that would handle this sort of scenario especially well? I've tried Kingdom and In A Wicked Age but struggled when the players became very competitive.
