Scott Lang got kidnapped into saving the universe

In Ant-Man, Scott is desperate enough to take a job to steal from a reclusive old man. This is a setup that ends with him back in jail and given 2 options: go back to prison or become Ant-Man. So he basically got blackmailed into that.

In Civil War he got kidnapped by Barton and Wanda and taken to Germany. Sure he was willing once he got there, but still.

In Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hope kidnapped him from his home and forced him to help out (for good reason of course), which got him involved again to the point he got stuck in the Quantum Realm when the snap happened.

Now Scott’s QR knowledge will be integral in fixing the snap and saving the universe, all because Scott was initially blackmailed and later kidnapped into being a superhero. He didn’t get the typical option to be heroic and answer a call to action (he did at smaller moments once he was involved but still), and now here he is, fighting alongside aliens to save everything.

He wasn't kidnapped in Civil War. They showed up at his door and basically said "Captain America needs help. Can you come?"

He was given the option to walk away in Ant-Man, albeit indirectly. He chose to become a hero to be the man his daughter thought he was

I feel that's a valid manipulation. Being an ex con is just too much of a red mark.

Hank manipulated Lang's desperation.

Civil War - He wasn't kidnapped. I think you are confused about the scene. He's not in the van asleep because he was tranquilized. He really did just have jet lag and was sleeping it off.

Falcon was asking about the Ant Man, Hawkeye/Wanda picked him up of his own free will. Then he was given one last chance to walk away. Unlike Hank and Hope's methods, He wasn't manipulated into joining Cap.
