Road rage is real and I hate when it gets the best of me

Venting

Long story short, chick cuts in front of me almost causing an accident then moves to left lane. My lanes passes hers so I throw up my hands as I pass by because WTF was the point of endangering everyone around you to end up in a lane going just as slow as the rest?

Now she passes me while recording me on her phone and taunting me with kisses. Naturally, my rage hits atomic levels so I'm flipping her off and she's just laughing.

For a split second I legitimately thought of serving towards her car and forcing her to crash into the hov lane.

Then a few seconds later, I realize she's just a dumb cunt that doesn't mean anything to me and that would be crazy so I slow down a little and try to calm myself.

I spend three hours every work day in heavy traffic. I've learned to chill out and go with the flow but when someone does something legitimately rude and dangerous I can't help but get mad.

It's been a while since I've been that enraged. I'm embarrassed and disappointed in myself that I couldn't just let it go. Now I'm just angry I let some entitled little bitch get the best of me. Sigh.

Maybe when we're all in self driving cars I can just ignore everyone and enjoy the ride.

I’m proud of you for self reflecting and realizing what happened and being aware of your thought process, it’s an evaluation most people don’t make and it’s an amazing accomplishment! Celebrate that little victory at least. It’s scary when you lose control over your anger, the only thing I’ve realized is that it always boils down to me feeling disrespected so I just try and tell myself that people that act out and try and get a rise out of people just lack attention and she used your emotions to get the fix she needed.

You are absolutely right! She obviously only feels good about herself when she's putting other people down.

And thanks for the encouragement 😊

I was in the same situation. I was ready to fight to any one who did wrong driving. Specially those people who drive in front of you, slowly in the center of the road. So, I had my episode and one day I literally punch someone, he was wrong but he started bleeding. Not much damage and at that moment I realized how unstable I am. I am not a bad guy and that thought made me control over my self.

I still get angry but I am learning to ignore such things. Also, I am very bad with mouth, when someone piss me off, I become the god of sarcasm and my tongue transform in knife. For other it is a joke but the person in subject get burned and this is why I have lots of enemy following. I am working on that too. But not much success compare to road rage situation.

Thanks for sharing.

Ah, I do love cutting people with my words. No I'm just kidding. I feel so guilty afterwards.

It's good that you still realized you were out of control. Especially since you only punched the guy. Here in the US people shoot each other over road rage incidents all the time.

In fact, some lady the other day (phoenix, AZ) said that her daughter went to school with a young man who recently followed a family home after a minor traffic incident and shot at the them. The 10 year old daughter died.

It seems like you are getting better with controlling your anger. Don't feel discouraged. It's taken me years to get to this point. One tip I found that has worked really well is imagining everyone is floating in a lazy river.

Plus, words can't physically hurt people so throw as many as you want if it helps you vent. They can't hear you anyway!

words are most dangerous as from my experience. Most people keep the grudge for that and when they get chance they back-stab. I was in very rough times because of that. Places like offices or business associate words are high value assets.

I figure it out it is all related to triggers, I am just figuring out these triggers.

Aww, that's unfortunate to hear. Don't give up! Use side streets as much as possible. Highways and freeways are the stressful ones. Listen to a comedy podcast or upbeat music. And definitely don't look at anyone. It'll just piss you off seeing some angry schmuck's face.

😧 seriously concerned that you would consider using your car as a weapon. I would suspend your driving privileges. You need help.
