It holds the bottom of the backseat in. If you take it off the pad comes out and you can get to the fuel tank

I have no doubt about that, it is just not something I've actively thought about before. If you don't have children then you won't get it. And it's not like I'll be having a panic attack next time I put my kids in the car, it was just a joke...
