How can people blame the devil theologically?

My theology may be a bit off here, but wasn't the devil imprisoned by god himself? I mean come on, how can Christian logic dictate that the devil is to blame for all the evil in the world.

Devil lost to god and was imprisoned... so what? god is a dick hole and just left the key outside his cell? I know its kind of an oxymoron looking for logic in this but still... wtf?

Plus there is the question of, if he is free, and god has the power to stop him but won't... either way hes a jackass. Even if he was real I wouldn't follow that whiny jealous bitch.

Devil's advocate time again (ugh, didn't hear that pun in my head til after I wrote it)

  1. The devil was cast out of heaven, doesn't mean he's forbidden to move. That's why the devil could tempt jesus, be the snake in Eden, and eventually wage war on heaven. It's not so much a cell as it is getting thrown out of the ring at WWE, you can still get back in and you can definitely get back on the turnbuckle inbetween for a flying elbow drop.

  2. The argument that a fundi would use, is to say that God lets the devil run around tempting us as a method of testing our faith/conviction. Much in the same way Hornswaggle is left to run around in the WWE and test people's faith/conviction that wrestling is real.

EDIT: WRASSLIN'

I'm no bible scholar, but in the prophetic books of the OT very often even the choices of humans are preordained. To name just one time:

Ezekiel 38:10 (NIV) -- This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme

In some of those books, God raises up armies of evil men for no other purpose than to destroy them, or destroy the wicked in Israel, or to make people believe in him again. I doubt it's possible to reconcile a lot of what the bible implies on free will without some serious mental contortion.

The last bit is the issue. The devil is irrelevant — he's just another kooky story told by tribesmen. The real issue as it pertains to atheism is the problem of evil. Concerning which, the "devil" simply plays an anecdotal part.
