Question about movement

So I'm imagining a scenario in which two medium size humanoids are attacking a large sized beast (not flanking) and the large beast "wants" to sort of shove a humanoid aside to try and make an escape, does it have to take the shove action to move the humanoid or force them prone in order to move through the space they occupy?
