Cajun, Creole, Boudin?

Anyone know where to get some good authentic Boudin, or even some half decent Cajun or Creole food around here? I'm dying for some decent Boudin man....lol 😂😂😂

We don’t really have any Cajun restaurants around here. I get some good shit when my friend does a crawfish boil but that’s the closest I can get. You’ll probably need to head to Orlando for the real shit.

Where in Orlando?

King Cajun

Lots of places. Google/yelp can help. Many are run by Vietnamese folks of all people (Houston transplants maybe?) but there are some good spots even if I can’t remember a specific one.

King Cajun is the good one. New Orleans has a huge Vietnamese population that came in after Hurricane Carmen destroyed the local shrimp boats. The family that runs King Cajun are straight from New Orleans and as authentic you’ll get in Central Florida.

I figured as much, thanks for responding anyway. Maybe I'll try and look up one of my old co-workers from years ago. His wife made some killer Boudin.... actually the person that introduced me to good Cajun. I'll look into making a trip to Orlando if that fails (likely as I think they moved back to Louisiana a couple years ago...haha).

On a side note, you don't by chance know about any good Korean joints in Brevard?

Been getting back into food and I've got pretty good cooking it myself, but small batches simply isn't worth it for me to cook and I always end up with way: more than we can eat.

I mean, I could probably Google it, but recommendations from people and opinions from locals are way more valuable to me than search engine results/ads ya know?

Korean, yeah definitely. Mangetsu. Downtown Melbourne.

Great! Thanks for a solid recommendation, looks like another person said the same thing. I'll take a bus down later this week or next and check it out. Been awhile since I've got to where I'm able to go out and enjoy it again. Definitely looking forward to trying it out!

Mangetsu is probably the most solid choice. It's in downtown Melbourne. We like going there! Also, for what it's worth, Sushi Mori is a Korean/Japanese restaurant operated by one family. It's a nice little place to sit and eat, not typically busy.

Cool, thank you! I'll head down that way soon and check it out. I love some proper Korean food. Beats Chinese takeout any day of the week, I mean, they both have their place, but some good bulgogi, kimchi, and mandu tug at my heart strings...lol...but so time consuming to make on my own and I end up freezing so much and end up eating dumplings for weeks 🤗

You can find Zummos at some of the superwalmarts. Other than that, I've only had luck at claytons off of us1.

You mentioned you're into cooking, ever given etouffee a shot? Hardest part is getting the celery, onions and peppers diced up and it'll hit that craving spot. K&C Oriental Market on Aurora and Wickham always has realllllly good head on shrimp. Use the heads and the shells for the stock and it'll be even better.

Check out Orleans Bistro in Titusville... they have some good Cajun food.

Their boudin balls are not very good though. I went out of my way to try them and they're mostly bread if I remember right.

Ohh, I've never had them there. I did hear that somewhere on Eau Gallie in Melbourne, a new Cajun restaurant is going in. I'm hoping for the best!

I've been looking for boudin, too. I have to ask friends and family to bring it in from Louisiana when they come to visit. Good luck and God speed! If you find any good boudin please let me know!

I did manage to confirm with my old co-worker that he did in fact move back to Louisiana with his wife so no fresh Boudin for me.

Wish I could help but if I do come across some I will absolutely let you know. But man I sure miss some good homemade boudin are my Cajun buddies.. now that's some sweet comfort food if I ever had it, definitely high up on the list like meatloaf and mashed potatoes fried potatoes and eggs biscuits and gravy.

Oh man I'm hungry now with all this talk of good eatin' 😂🤗.

My good buddy damn near fresh off the boat from Haiti man him and his wife could cook some good eats too. I remember my good friend from Haiti almost got in a fight over something somebody threw food away in front of us one time. Brinke was like a brother to me... even if his 6'4" ass made my 5'8" look like his little white twin nobody dated question it...lmao 😎 I think you owns a barber shop down in Miami now oh, I might make a trip down to see him sometime.
