[PC] Beginner, confused about controls, "attack queueing"?
Playing for around 30 hours now and the game feels very clunky and unresponsive to me. When I press a key it sometimes just doesn't do what I want. Maybe I'm still staggered or in some animation. It's already very frustrating when the actions are performed 100ms late because by then the whole encounter can change but sometimes it just doesn't perform them at all.
I also noticed when I dodge/block and click LMB/RMB while in the animation, I do a light/heavy attack when I get out of the animation. Is there a way around this?
This is actually costing me a lot of matches and making it really difficult to learn because it leaves me open to the enemy or I have to react to a 400ms attack in a 300ms time window just because the game reacts so slowly.

The idea is that you input the next move before the end of the last to instantly do the next without delay. I personally hate it and it allows ubisoft sloppy timings and windows. No real fixed foundational mechanics. There is a delay if you attack from a different side, also stupid, that can cause you to miss windows. If you are hitting heavy attack and its not doing it at all from neutral thats a problem.
So this is actually intended?
I guess I just have to get used to this if I wanna continue playing. Fuck, dude. I just get really nervous fighting players because most people trash me in a 1v1 so I just press wrong keys sometimes.
So it takes longer if I change directions before an attack?
Changing guard takes 100ms and perform another action takes 200ms more for static guard heroes (this will be removed on next season patch and will be standarized). This delay only happens from neutral, so comboed attacks are not affected by this.
So if I change guard on neutral to perform a 500ms attack on a static guard hero (what are those, btw?) it will basically take me 800ms?
What happens if you guard change + dodge attack? Does that count as neutral? Should you just avoid doing any attack that gets delayed like this?
Static guard are all non-assasins but Shaolin, the ones that the guard doesn't decay and yes, the attack indicator itself will be 500ms, but it will take 800ms from changing your guard until the attack hits.
Dodge does not get delayed by guard changes (it did for a long time, but it was changed).
I would not say to avoid them, but makes offense worse. It's pretty evident on attacks after feinting, for example, Zerker can feint and throw a light from another direction and will be hard to block, but if Warden does the same, it's easier because of that delay even if both of them are the same speed. Luckily it will be fixed soon.
Edit: I'll add that even if parries are an attack input, they don't get the delay by guard change, they are performed immediately.
Yeah, for exmaple if orochi does an out of stam throw he can get 2 heavy attacks, but if you change attack position you only get 1. Completely arbitrary if you ask me.
