Navani the Bondsmith

SpoilerCosmere

Hello,

I'm listening to Oathbringer for a second time. I'm currently at the part where Navani is taking charge of the tower while Dalinar is going down memory lane.

There are many hints here that she'll become the next Bondsmith and bond the sibling as her spren. I'm about to get married in a week, so maybe this is effecting my thinking to much. Marriage seems to be a very strong bond and oath. Uniting two lives together. Then I started thinking of Dalinar's possible ascension to Honor through his bond with the storm father. Now, the storm father is a large piece of honor, so it can be assumed that the sibling is also a large piece of honor. Maybe it will take more than one person to ascend? It would be interesting if two people or three people ascended together and united the Honor shard back together.

Or maybe the aspects of honor can be divided further, like the reverse of [mistborn spoiler]>!ruin and preservation became Harmony.!< Maybe Dalinar, Navani and other will become 3 different aspects of honor.

Another question I would like to discuss is, who do you think is going to be the third bond smith?

I think the Sibling Bondsmith is going to be Rlain, and that we won't see a Nightwatcher Bondsmith but rather an Unmade Bondsmith. Also, I think the uniting of Honor is gonna be a Dalinar-only thing.

Any forshadowing on these theories?

For Rlain, none except it would feel thematic and cool. For the Unmade Bondsmith, I feel like with all the stuff about Sja-Anat betraying Odium, something along these lines seems primed to happen eventually. Also it'd be cool as all hell to see a Voidbinder version of a Bondsmith

I'd say Honor being split can't be compared to the MB case (unnamed because i have no idea how to hide spoilers) because that's actually 2 separate shards from the original entity coming together as intended (getting into deeper Cosmere stuff) whereas Honor was always one shard. The original 16 shards are sorta aspects of the original entity, Honor and those other 2 being 3 of them, and those just balanced well (and/or were always contrasts to each other and just ended up on the same world after The Shattering (whatever the official term is))

An interesting idea in any case.

Navani is going to swear ideals to bring order from chaos. This doesnt fit any order we don't know about, so I am convinced she will bond the sibling and that bondsmiths can have different oaths for each of the 3 spren. Rlain may still be the third bondsmith.

I'm personally not convinced all Bondsmiths are Surgebinders. It would make sense for each to provide their own magic system. The Sibling providing Voidbinding. The Nightwatcher to provide the currently suspected Cultivationbinding.

Given the surges come from the spren it wouldn't make sense that three drastically different Godspren provide the same surges.

The three bondsmith spren definitely all provide the same surges, and all are definitely providing surgebinding. The charts + the iconography found in Urithiru make this pretty certain. Now those surges probably aren't applied in the same way, and the powers may be different in application, but the Bondsmith surges are confirmed.

The picture in Urithiru shows the Radiant Orders. Bondsmiths are one of those Orders. The Nightwatcher providing Adhesion and Tension doesn't make much sense. Given Edgedancers are closest to Cultivation and have Progression.

The Bondsmiths are Surgebinders who use the Surges of Tension and Adhesion.

Such things are too important to revolve around side characters.
