Azama Defense Showcase Week 7

So, jumping from week 3 to 7 is something. Would and could make it up but life had me busy so I’m just gonna start at 7. I have those weeks replays, just pm if need be.

This weeks AR defense team. Normally, I would be using 6 Azamas. Seeing spd stat increases though, I decided to stay with this team on light season. So, just gonna post 7 recent successes.

Final thoughts: I was excited with all these seasonal staves happening after one another. Now, it’s just running me ragged obtaining 2 or 3 every time. Just got my 2 Genny fodder to replace Ovoid Azamas. Maybe I miss the days we’re staves rarely appeared in new banners...okay not really but my wallet sure does.

Jesus your team looks terrifying to fight against. It’s cool how you have Restore+ with dual Infantry Pulse to let your Azamas get their Miracles up and running early.

Kudos! I desperately tried to get a Witchy Wand for my Azama no no avail. I was able to pull a Mikoto though, so I’m using Flash + Guard as a kind of alternative.

Appreciate it! Yeah I was worried two wasn’t enough but seems to be fine.

Yeah Witchy Wand is very powerful for Azama that I had to get two. If it’s anything like Candelight was, I am sure there’ll be a non seasonal version of it like how Flash is. And Flash + Guard does have a devious setup potential going on. Wonder what team comp you got going on!

My setup is more of a stall tactic thing going on. I don’t want to get obscenely wordy explaining my builds, but I left them here for you to check out.

There are some things I do want to point out though. Last season I had two losses that helped me make some tweaks. The first loss was against a ranged flier team that could have lost if Loki had Vantage, so I added that. The second loss came from a rampant Surtr who I forgot to add a check for, thus I added Idunn where I used to have Myrrh. So far my defense is undefeated, but I’m down here in Tier 15 so that probably isn’t that big of an accomplishment haha...

Normally I like Azama to be receiving both defensive buffs, but I needed to buff up Idunn’s defenses and I had no other unit to place the Defense Tactic seal on, so Azama just became the general team buffer. Apparently he’s still a bitch to take down though!

Lastly, I think a Fury + Fortress seal is an underrated combination when it comes to buffing up a certain stat, and it has helped Selkie immensely in activating her Sabotage Attack and protecting her from Yune’s debuffs.

Honestly that’s pretty impressive at any tier. It has cohesion with each other and some teams don’t usually do that, or minimally with like special charge or something. Kinda got my interest in Bowki as well! Keep me updated as time goes on, I’m genuine curious how you do as time goes!

Thanks! Honestly though in the future I’ll probably still be around Tier 15 or so. I’m just too scared of moving up due to the scary meta defenses that I feel I’m not prepared for. How do you usually deal with Azura, Ophelia, firesweep/dazzling horses and such?

Wow, you continue to impress with the effort and new ideas you put into your team! You wouldn't expect Azama's speed to reach 42 before buffs, but you not only pull it off, but you also gave out Joint Hone Speed with Bonus Doubler (and Restore+) to push that up to 52 speed. All of a sudden, units who could reliably expect to double Azama are now in danger of being doubled by him, and so Azama has somehow become even tankier! (Not to mention that +10 HP from the Dark Blessings.)

Yune herself provides great coverage against most Raven tome users, since those are usually green in AR (thanks to Ophelia and Reinhardt) and usually have a good-but-not-great Res stat -- she'll likely land a debuff for a guaranteed double (and if she doesn't, that unit's probably getting hit by Chill Res), and Moonbow ensures that she lands some major damage (unless the opponent runs Guard, but an opponent running Guard isn't running Null C-Disrupt, meaning Azama will attack instead if Yune would otherwise initiate and be defeated). Her Sabotage Res helps everyone on your team hit harder during their phase, and can in general severely limit your opponents' positioning options. I wonder if you got a Selkie, if you'd consider using her Sabotage Attack for one of the Yunes? Or maybe you'd still prefer the consistency of having two Sabotage Res skills just so the effect is still active even if one Yune is defeated.

I also see that Azama with Dull Ranged to shoot down Blade tome strats. And there's Hone Attack 4 and Chill Res, and all the staffs themselves... it's clear you've spent a lot of time thinking about what skills would help a team of Azamas shine, and you've spared no expense making it happen. Admirable!

Honestly, it's hard to imagine countering this team without specifically chosen counters (like, a TA Sophia or Lyon) that wouldn't usually make it onto any AR offense teams. Maybe a Galeforce, high-RES red unit that made it to the defense tile on turn 1, like Eliwood or maybe Fir, could work without being impractical? (Though a lot of people who tried to take advantage of the defense tile and that second Yune defeated them in the defense replays, so that's not foolproof, even with WTA.)

I don't think I'd have any chance of taking this defense down. Thanks for sharing -- I always love watching this defense team in action!

Damn, way to worded it all out lol. I’ll be honest, I kept on going once one thing worked out. In the end it seem to work alright so I said eh good enough. But yeah over all replays of wins and losses, there hasn’t been a game where it wasn’t in total defeat( very few where I lost but enemy couldn’t get pots). But yeah, I did get more technical in placement and skills as you explained. I do have Sabotage Atk but she’s my only Selkie that’s +res and I am just waiting for another to fodder. Glad you caught onto that cause that’s totally my next die hard skill I want to inherit. Thanks for the in depth analysis, honestly worded better than I could ever had!
