keyboard/mouse simultaneously freeze randomly and repeatedly

This is a newer issue I've been having and I'm not sure why. Usually right after I boot my pc running windows 10, my keyboard and mouse will freeze for about 10-15 seconds followed by the lights on them shutting off and turning back on again then return to working order. This will happen usually about a dozen times and then not happen again for several hours. I've tried to do some troubleshooting on my own and I've deduced that its probably an OS problem only because both my mouse and keyboard are different brands and therefore run through a different software. If anyone has any ideas that could help I'd really appreciate it and if you need more information about the problem I'm happy to answer.
