Background check for employment?
Hey all,
I recently got a really, really great job offer with a large hotel company. I will be handling money as part of the job, and because of this, part of the condition of my offer is that my employer wants to run a credit check on me first.
I checked my credit today, and it is abysmal.
I don't have much negative activity honestly. I have one credit card payment that is past due (an amount of roughly $300, but since I've been unemployed, money is tight) and student loans of that are also past due, but of the $800 I owed, I paid $400 about 2 weeks ago.
I check my credit score every 2-3 weeks, and the last time I checked it, it was average, so I didn't think I had much to worry about.
This credit check is Monday, does anyone know if my score is going to keep me from getting this job, or if they're looking for something else? I'm generally pretty responsible, it was honestly just being unemployed that got me behind. My employer knows I have student loan debt and said it wasn't a big deal, but I'm really worried now.
Thanks!
