Off topic but I remember when I was in 1st grade (2001), me teacher had gotten us this foot long bubble gum. She then had us measure it and it was like, 3-4in short of a foot. Somehow, this post just reminded me of that ha.

That’s similar to the Subway Footlong issue from a few years ago.

Nihon_Hanguk•

That’s interesting because that was just recently brought up in my statistics class.

Statistically, what are the odds of that

Subway is now pretty strict about sub length. I think the threshold is now like 1/16” plus or minus in length and they frequently check

It's filled with 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.04% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases[1] to keep them fresh. It's very scientific stuff.

Check the sub this is posted in.

EDIT: yeah - I missed the joke. My most downvoted comment ever. I’ll wear it in shame.

Was just making fun of the weight obsessed people in this sub lol

How can this be allowed

I can't believe you've done this.

Hmm, I wonder if this is possibly a production error? I swear I've seen these things fuller than this.

12

in all honesty they're just trying to prevent it reaching critical mass

u can see it's sold by weight not volume. as long as it weighs like it should, you got what you paid for. but yeah, that's some extraneous packaging going on there.

ebjazzzOP•

Yes. Most items that are posted in this sub are sold by weight. If we discounted that there wouldn’t be a whole lot posted here.

92
kibblznbitz•

God damn can you imagine the tooth decay of eating an entire tube filled to the brim?

16
RobbyLee•

You know that you don't have to eat that alone in one sitting? It can be on a party or several parties or you can put them into a bowl with other "sweets" and have them on your living room counter or something.

12
kibblznbitz•

Yes. I know.

Phaze357•

This is r/NonFunctionSlackFill not r/AssholeDesign so the post is perfect. An item sold by the same weight in a more reasonable sized container would be less deceptive.

dandu3•

I just realized this subs name is r/NonFunctionSlackFill...

Phaze357•

Oh wow. I didn't test my link. That's kind of aggravating.

cousac•

yup that's me. one of the disadvantages of coming in from r/all

-6
spacedust94•

It’s misleading though, how many people actually look at the weight? People go by the appearance. And if it’s in a large container like the one OP posted then it’s safe to assume at least 3/4 of the package is full, but it’s not.

7
ColourfulConundrum•

The thing I find most offensive here is that more packaging is more waste, and higher shipping costs for the same amount of product. As I’d understand it, anyway.
