Go to http://xmage.today/ , download zip-archive and unpack it to any folder like d:\games\xmage-beta. You can use release and beta clients at the same time.
You must use run-launcher.cmd file from game's folder to run beta's launcher, then you must press "update" button to download java and then you can run client from launcher.
Report your steps until error/stuck and error message that you can see.

For the record, was having the same issue on here today. Found a solution on some website I've never seen before. Slightly Magic:
