Discrepancies in EoM Costs - Google Ads

Google Ads

I run a rudimentary script that logs my daily spend, but when I come to pull an end of month report, the cost is usually cheaper by £100 or so?

What is getting refunded from the day-to-day costs to my end of month figure?

It's mostly invalid clicks. For many Google doesn't attribute straight away as invalid as historically for example they find out after recording more activity from a specific IP

What cost are you pulling in with the API exactly? There's the served cost, and the billed cost. The EoM report would show the billed cost.

The difference being that display and video campaigns often deliver over the 2x overdelivery cap, but you're charged only the 2x cap. Campaign reporting shows served cost. To see served vs billed cost, go to the Billed Cost report in Reports > Predefined > Other > Billed Cost.
