Redditors who've had their card declined in a store/restaurant, what did the cashier say/do?

He climbed up onto the counter, pulled a megaphone out of what seemed like midair and screamed “THIS BOY BROKE THIS BOY BROKE” the other workers joined in, but they were doing a slow chant “this boy broke” “this boy broke”.

I tried to get away but they formed a circle and their chants got louder, the guy on the counter didn’t jump down he started stomping his feet and chanting louder and louder, at this point the people in the circle started lighting products on fire and throwing them at me trying to make me dance. I broke their defence by elbowing the frail old lady that was coming towards me with a fresh cut piece of meat. I’ll never forget the cloak clad workers and their chants

"Would you like to try it again?" / wait patiently

They just ask if you want to try it again or if you want to use an alternate form of payment. It's not a big deal unless you can't cover it another way or can't get in touch with the bank to see what's going on.

recently had my card declined in a dollar store because i pulled the chip out too soon. the cashier whispered it and put his hand on the side of his mouth so the other customers wouldn't see him. I tried the card again and it worked. and told him thanks for being discrete.
