Not sure where you would be travelling from. Have you looked into work visas?
Also do you speak French to a standard you can teach in the language?
Why France? If budget is an issue there are much cheaper countries to chill in.
I went on a whim, I don't mind being broke but I figured I'd ask just incase I might learn something
Then I wouldn't try to work. The wine is good though!
So you're going to France without enough money to support yourself?
That's not very smart.
Can you legally work in France?
I'm going to have a blast regardless and no.
So you plan to break the law in a country you are a guest in?
You're the worst kind of traveller.
You're not a traveler. You're a tourist.
And a tourist has no right to tell someone what a true traveler is.
Didn't take long to figure out what kind of person you are.
Hi BearMaple, thanks for your submission! Unfortunately it's been removed for the following reasons:
Good for you. I wouldn’t listen to the people discouraging you. Travelling without money makes you more resourceful and facilitates an exciting adventure with more spontaneity.
“Where there’s a will there’s a way” if you’ve got the drive and decide it will work. You will make it work. And if not? What’s the worst that happens. The upsides way outweigh the downsides in my view.
If you’re from an English native speaking country, look into PalFish. It’s an English tutoring program through smartphones that will let me make cash while travelling. It’s very easy.
All the best, hit me up if you have any questions about it.
Side note: if you want a once in a lifetime experience go to chamonix and hike the tour de Mont Blanc.
Thank you!
I agree with you on traveling with a super tight/no budget and it does make us way more witty and willing to try new things
I'll be looking into Palfish now, I appreciate your detailed advice :)
Unpopular opinion but everyone on here seems like abit of a pussy. Those with the most wisdom, who are well travelled and experienced - probably aren’t giving advice on reddit. Not to say I don’t appreciate this sub, but it’s not the most accurate representation of people you meet backpacking
I actually agree with you completely. I thought this sub was for the adventurous and free spirited
But it's really only for the privileged gatekeepers
Seems you are just as much of a gatekeeper.
You might seek out the local chapters of the Erasmus Students Network. Their members are in touch with cultural opportunities, epic parties, casual work opportunities, etc. in the local area, and they can provide detailed information about whatever countries/regions they're from.
If you have skills in communications and media, you can work as a contractor from anywhere you have access to an internet connection for your computer. Basic proof-reading and editing opportunities are common, and do not have to leave long paper trails.
Also think about how you'll do your visa runs. Eastern Europe outside the Schengen area can be a good choice with low cost of living, employability of native English speakers, and service by discount airlines and rail.
No .. not good for him.
Their plan is to not go with enough money to support themselves and plan to break the law and work illegally.
People like this do nothing but take from the place they are a guest.
There are ways someone might make money overseas without it being illegal or detracting from the place they’re visiting
Is what he plans to do unethical even though it might be illegal? If not then who cares he would be harming no one but himself
Lol right? I'm not going to sell drugs and I'm going to paris. Paris has a nice economy and me asking for a way to make extra funds is unethical? Everyone who travels is rich and any form of making money over seas is just pure evil. Brazilian jiu jitsu and personal fitness training seen pretty chill to me.
This subreddit should be changed from solo traveler to privileged tourist, lol.
Also, I have a place to stay. Soooo....
ahahhaha It’s a bunch of dweebs planning their three week holidays to stay in a hotel, eat gelato and take photos of churches while expecting a life changing experience because they’ve identified themselves as ‘solo-travellers’
