The timing of Outbreak Perfected

SIVA

^(I was thinking about it yesterday & some more theory came to mind today, enough to make me think I should make a post about it. [which got kinda long, made a TL;DR])

I believe the final week of the Outbreak Perfected(/Prime(Primefected)) Catalyst is also the final week of Season 6. The Outbreak Catalyst is done next week, my bad, but it does leave us with an extra week between then & season 7. Maybe that's just extra time to prep or get the last part if you've missed a week, I don't think it completely invalidates my point (lucky me) & Outbreak Perfected, in short OP, is OP. as in kinda overpowered in some opinions. Anyway my point is that this incredibly powerful gun is about to get even better not too long before Season 7. Which starts off with a Raid available on Day 1.

It makes me wonder if Bungie wanted to give us a means to beat the Raid while underleveled or if the gun might bring any advantages with it to the new Raid. You already know people who will try to beat it on Day 1 like Datto, will get the Catalyst ASAP. And could Bungie possibly be planning to tone the damage down afterwards? since it fulfilled its purpose of aiding in the Day 1 clear. & since some people are already complaining while the Catalyst hasn't even been completed by anyone yet. (Not that I'd personally wamt it to be nerfed)

Alternatively - this is more of a stretch - did Mithrax know what the next season holds for us? Was there an in-game reason for this timing? Was this a way to prepare us / help us out for what's to come, or was it nothing more than a way to help stop the House of Devils from getting their hands on SIVA & gaining our trust?

The least interesting outcome is that it's just planned this way so people can move on to new activities & conclude this Season 6 activity within Season 6 itself. Or that it's coincidence.

TL;DR: Outbreak Catalyst can be completed in the last week before the last week of season 6, do you think that means anything regarding the S7 Day 1 Raid or the Lore, or is it just how things worked out?

edit: thanks for making me realize my mistake, it's not the last week of Season 6. I lose track of which day it is & I'm bad with dates. I should've remembered to fact check that part

Is next week the final week of season 6? Because the Catalyst will be completed next week.

am I really that goddamn stupid? great. I was wrong about that part, thanks for letting me know. It was the one thing I had to (forgot to) fact check... I'm gonna edit that part

Nope 2 more weeks Opulence starts June 4th.

I feel like OBP can be pretty good in the new raid especially if encounters are based on long damage phases. If they do actually nerf the gun I’d think they would lower the max amount of group stacked nanites for bosses. Nothing affect solo players. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did nerf it a little.

Yeah that seems like the obvious nerf. It could even be spun as a bug fix

whoops we didn't intend for nanintes to boost other players damage

It could very well be a coincidence, however I don't usually believe in coincidences in regards to Destiny.

Given that the raid launches 6 hours after Oppulence released, there is a very good chance that Bungie intended for us to use OP in the raid. The main piece of evidence for this is Last Wish, generally the biggest failing of that raid for people was the delta scaling and how under levelled everyone was.

It seems like Bungie are trying to replicate this for Crown of Sorrow, whilst trying to make the delta scaling not as steep.

ah man, I wasn't really thinking about that last week when I skipped the configuration. I'll get the catalyst eventually but you're probably right in betting on this be the "must have OP with catalyst" for raid invites

CuddleSpooksOP•

I'm dumb, we'll get a second Void Configuration week, or at least another week, before Season 7. It's the second to last week of Season 6 next week, not the last.. So you can catch up for those demanding invites

yeeeeeet

I'm of the opinion it will see a PvE nerf in regards to the ability to stack damage. I totally believe it was an intended addition to help with day 1 raiders.

would make sense

The extra week will be the catalyst, next week is the ship right?

1
CuddleSpooksOP•

Should be the same week if the Solar configuration is next week. Last week could've gotten people 33% if they did the puzzle, this week 67%, next week 100%. Last week was Void, this one Arc, & next should be Solar for the ship, unless they wanna mess with us

1
thebutinator•

Maybe the next week is void like bungie always does

2
CuddleSpooksOP•

I'd be kinda pissed, especially if the next is also Arc again, but I think the amount of hate they'd get would be too much (not that it has ever stopped them)

I’m out of the loop here but is this the only time we can get the catalyst or is it going to be like whisper where you can get it anytime the mission is open?

When have they done this before?

thebutinator•

See nightfall last 5 months haha

Geebasaurus_Rex•

If they nerf it after a day 1 clear that would piss off 99% of the player base. Why would they do that??

1
CuddleSpooksOP•

because it's pretty strong, it melts a lot of bosses like butter, it's comparable to a Heavy like Whisper as far as I've seen and it's only a Primary.

I personally love that one of my favorite guns is back, better than ever, staying true to the "OP" of Outbreak Prime/Perfected. Makes a lot of PvE stuff easy too & honestly I'm one of those people that rather melts stuff for fun than challenge myself for accomplishment. So I'd love to keep it this way, but I've seen so many complaints about it already. The Catalyst is only going to make things better/worse.

in short: because people will say Dungeons, Raids, Nightfalls etc. are a joke & they want challenging content. I can't say they're wrong, it diminishes the accomplishment, but imo it doesn't have to be all about that. Agree to disagree n such

1
Geebasaurus_Rex•

Oh for sure, my bad i wasn't questioning its effectiveness. I'm with ya there.

I just meant it would be really messed up if they let all the day 1 streamers use in in the Raid, then nerfed it.

2
CuddleSpooksOP•

absolutely

1
JC_REX_373•

If you want challenging content then you don’t have to use the BiS weapons, though?

Outbreak Perfected should not get a nerf, it’s only good for extended damage phases anyways and best with 6 people all using it... Should they nerf Whisper next? That gun doesn’t even use the ammo you fire, it just refunds it

1
CuddleSpooksOP•

I think the Whisper is a little different because it's both a Heavy and requires good aim. If you hit all those shots & it doesn't melt, you have a right to be upset

I want it stay this way, I agree that it doesn't have to be easy, but I think a vaild argument they'd have is that anyone can do some things now. A Day 1 Raid could be easy now, or doing a Flawless run, etc. any endgame PvP stats, emblems, and shaders would be pretty much meaningless now

I personally hate that those are all used to flaunt, to flex on people, "look at how good I am" even though I'll always assume they got carried & that diminishes any flaunting already. So I really couldn't care less & would prefer all that nonsense to stop, but a lot of people care & I can't blame them for that..

1

Whisper is getting nerfed again...along with a lot of other stuff.

1
JC_REX_373•

I saw, but Whisper is still going to be super powerful as it should be. All exotics should be powerful

The problem is that the Devils attacked and I guess they chose the time of the attack not Mithrax. And I don't think they want to help us stop themselves ;)

1
CuddleSpooksOP•

yeah, I do assume that's the timing, but I'm not sure how we got Outbreak Perfected out of this. If Mithrax gave it to us, or led us to it rather than dropping us off at the boss, maybe he wanted us only to have it if we were to be trusted / did him a favor.. It's a long shot based on kinda nothing though
