[DISCUSSION] This has showed up in a sales post, should I buy it?

DISCUSSION

It's a 50's Silvertone Kentucky Blue Colorama Archtop Guitar, and he wants six bills for it, Canadian.

I like unique guitars. I have some scratch saved for a guitar of this price or similar. It's a 65 year old guitar or so.

It's ugly as sin. If you don't buy it, I will.

I actually think it's pretty gorgeous. If it plays well and sounds good I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

If you can afford to potentially throw $600 at a guitar that could have so many problems-- including cracks, warped neck, etc.-- that it's possibly unplayable and too expensive to get into playing condition... sure.

Personally, I wouldn't. There are a million things that can go wrong with those cheap old guitars. If you can't check it out yourself, ask yourself what the likelihood is that it's actually in good enough shape that you won't have to have things done to it.
