How about one more scene, +5 secs of footage, for episode 5 to make just a little more sense: Dany crying over citizens while burning them.

We like to daydream about better plot and storylines for this season and wonder how HBO even let these ideas of D&D through. But let's put ourselves in more realistic circumstances: the sceenplay, kept in dead secret as a whole, is already long way in production, everything is prepared, some scenes already shot, money spent. By the time someone with a brain, courage and influence on D&D gets their hands on the script, the point of turning back is long past. How to make a small addition to the footage to edit the Dany's storyline and make it a little more believable?

My choice would be: another scene of her flying on the dragon and crying over dying innocents she thinks she has to burn. Seems like a cheap solution: one actor, green screen on the back.

What would it change? It'd drop the blunt "mad queen" title at the very least, cause now we'd see it was a hard decision, not... ahem... an emotional outburst.

Also the Dany's "let it be fear" line of season 8 would be complete: she lost every bit of love in Westeros she hoped to get, she now has a direct rival for The Iron Throne, with more rights to it, more love and trust from Westeros folk. And now all the Westeros knows about him. She loses this race. But she still believes The Iron Throne is her destiny and it must be taken at all cost. So she makes a decision to burn the capital and inspire fear in anyone who dares question her rights to The Throne. She hates to kill innocent people and suffers a lot from it, as we would've known from our extra 5 secs of us alone with her and her vulnerable side shown (rare sight in the last three seasons). And our obvious conclusion would be: she thinks she absolutely has to do it to take and keep The Iron Throne.

Of course, this scene wouldnt suddenly repair the poor writing. But i think it would've saved the character. Even though we would know she was a mass murdered after all, now it would at least have some tragedy to it, not just "oh lol yaknow wat lets make her mad queen".
