This MSI can make the West hyped for MSI
Its very interesting if you look at the possibilities for each top team of the 4 major regions and their room to grow till Worlds.
Invictus Gaming (IG)
The team plays together for at least 2 hole years. Baolan and Rookie even longer. Mechanically with no doubt the best of the 4 I compare here. 2018 World Champions and 2019 LPL Spring and Demacia Cup winner.
-
Mechanically very low
-
Synergy wise very low
-
Macro wise quite a bit
-
Mentality wise quite a bit. They will come in with much anger from this MSI into summer and Worlds. Also with more consistency most likely and a lot of pressure from the VERY passionate Chinese fans.
SK Telekom T1 (SKT)
Besides the face of SKT and arguably the best player in the world Faker all others joined after the disappointing Worlds for LCK. Where SKT werent even qualified as multiple World Champion org and the most successful when it comes to pro LoL play.
-
Mechanically very low (besides top you could argue but this could also be said to be a resource problem of the team and wrong read on the meta)
-
Synergy wise very high. This is still a young team with a lot of room to grow till Worlds. Especially when you saw how the ramped up over the Spring Splitt.
-
Macro wise very low. The fundamentals in that regard they are most likely the strongest but still used and slow to change it. Even MSI meta showed that their way to play wasnt maybe the best considering their line up, they still nearly made it to the finals and could be the raining MSI champions now in that case. To be that competitive with maybe even the wrong read on the meta and some big hick ups in the draft saws a lot about the strength of this team.
-
Mentality wise quite a bit. Maybe they dont go into Worlds after long time of low success for Korea with the mind set of being the undefeatable. What could be a upside in the end and make them more flexible (more critical to themselves). Other then that the pressure will be on them as the legacy team of LCK to regain their status as number 1 in the world.
Team Liquid (TL)
Also a revamped roster going into spring with 2 huge pick ups with Jensen and CoreJJ. With out a doubt the most successful roster of the past few years in NA and many saying even the best NA has ever produced ( what you now can finally back up with international success).
-
Mechanically medium room to grow. We saw Impact feeling comfortable on carry champs and also proving it vs the worlds best. Questions remain Xmithie from time to time and even DL when he is put behind and still has the tendency to farm it up solo in side lanes.
-
Synergy wise medium. With 2 new parts to integrate they still can work a lot in that regard and this MSI definitely helped to fasten that process.
-
Macro wise medium to high. We saw them develop this tourney in a more diverse team what gives great hopes for the future. Other then that it will have to do a lot how NALCS develops in meta. Will they finally start to play their own meta, like C9 and TSM started to do? We will see.
G2 Esports (G2)
Coming from a semi final run last year G2 took the risk to want to go even further with signing Caps and Mikyx. To swap Perkz to adc. As now this MSI and Spring Split has shown with great success.
-
Mechanically low. Besides Perkz who as a new adc has definitely a lot of room to grow. Especially when it comes to positioning. But with his talent and time it should only go up from here.
-
Synergy wise low. Besides reintegrating Mikyx who had to pause for 3 months because of injury. This team had a natural fit when it came to mindset and how to play the game. They also were used to playing 1-3-1 from last year and got a upgrade for mid with a playmaker in the Clapscrapscoin.
-
Macro wise low. They macro is kinda unique and self built, so we dont know how much they can perfection it. But for sure they can work on consistency. Also very dependent on macro shifts and if LEC can improve in summer. So that they get challenged also nationally and can grow trough that.
EDIT:Formatting, Baolans time in IG (thx to totung1x45 for pointing it out )
