Needed to gather my thoughts as I'm approaching 6 months sober and I'm starting to realize that there's still more work to do to get my life back and where I want it to be.
I've been suffering every day getting sober since December 1st. The last 3 weeks have been the first tolerable days for me. Getting sober for me looks different than some because of trauma from the past. But as I was sitting in a meeting today, it hit me that just because I broke my habit of drinking, doesn't mean that I'm by far cured or still thinking right 100%. It hit me exactly how long I've been using alcohol for and how little time I've been sober.
It's been a scary thought. But I've already regained maintaining relationships, managing my life better and getting my emotions back. I guess I just started to see how over the many years of polluting my body and brain, it's going to take much more than not drinking to reclaim the life I want back.
