So I love pole weapons in general .. please let me know if I got this right:
Spear: best for poking, useless for swinging
Halberd: can poke + swing
Bardiche: best for swinging, bad at poking
Billhook: a weaker halberd but good vs horsies due to the pull
Short Spear: a shorter spear but enables shield
How does the Poleax fit in? A shorter range Bardiche?
Any other weapons to be considered "polearms" ?

Pole axe is the best pole weapon imo. As much as it's a total meme at this point, it's probably the most V E R S A T I L E weapon in the game. It does major damage to both heavy and light armor depending on which grip you're using, really good stab damage, and for a pole weapon has above average speed, albeit kinda shitty reach. It's also a lot cheaper than most the other pole weapons points wise, so it allows you to be more V E R S A T I L E with your entire kit as well.
Personally it's the only pole weapon I ever use in duels. Halberds and spears are too expensive for me, Bardiches are way better for outnumbered battles, Billhooks are for horses. I don't count short spear as a pole weapon, to me that's more of just a one handed weapon like a sword, just it's a spear.
I use short spear probably more than any other weapon, with the pole axe right behind it. You'll be surprised at how much damage you can do with a pole axe, I really love that thing.
I agree with a lot of that statement, but I honestly think the longsword should be considered tied with, if not the most versatile weapon. It costs 5 points, has good range, power stabs and strikes. It's alt mode provides enough variance in range and speed, and has more consistent damage against armour. It's a lot faster, and it's a lot harder to predict it's feints and morphs.

Pole axe is like a shorter halberd. It has the blade and the spike, both of which do good damage. Due to its V E R S A T I L E alt mode hammer, it's also effective against armor. Only downside is its a little short compared to other poles
