iPad + Keyboard Folio - Troubleshooting why the on-screen keyboard keeps coming up...

As the title mentions, I am having a quite annoying issue getting the on-screen keyboard to not constantly pop up. I have an attached Smart Keyboard Folio (3rd gen) that works perfectly, and despite it clearly being connected, the on-screen keyboard still seems to default to showing whenever i open or switch to an app. Any help would be great appreciated!
