Stay at home Moms & Dads of toddlers, how do you see your child benefit from staying at home with you instead of being in daycare?

I'm lucky enough to have my wife stay at home with my son for the last two and a half years and I am grateful he doesn't have to be in a daycare, but I worry he isn't getting the social aspects of daycare or the getting used to not being around mom so much. We live away from home and family so we only see them during major holidays thrice a year. I know and reason with myself that he is getting so much more out of spending the days with mom instead of daycare?
