I look to Call of Duty for my political commentary
Literally what? Why not just let the game be the dumb thing that it is?
The developers themselves are pitching it as "commentary", so it makes perfect sense to evaluate it on those terms.
You're right, I hate analyzing political themes in games. That's why I love reading waypoint
Of course, what they’re likely going to do is try to split the difference between war being Bad and war being Badass. Which is going to end up in a muddled game that doesn’t say much of anything at all.
Maybe I’m cynical but this just keeps happening with games like this. I don’t trust them to actually commit to saying anything meaningful in most AAA games anymore.
Exactly. Much like Far Cry 5, the devs signaling they have Something To Say hangs a bell on it. And inevitably, they won’t go far enough, or their multiplayer or marketing campaign will undercut any attempt at a message and just make it that much worse.
You know, I was specifically thinking about Far Cry 5 when I said this too.
