MS connectivity through AP
Hi everyone,
Just started playing with the configuration a bit and I have a business case where the access points (MR33) would need to feed a switch connectivity.
I played around a bit and I’m not sure it’s doable as the AP, even connected with DC power and acting in a mesh environment properly, is still considered as a client for the switch...

I've created environments where we use the APs as repeaters to feed another switch its connection. It would fall more under the main appliances client list versus the AP. When doing the the AP is only a wireless bridge and wont provide any wireless signal to wifi enabled devices. On mobile or I would provide the use case docs I have from work on it. I usually deploy ubiquiti nano stations instead though due to cost, for wireless bridging.
Yeah you CAN do this but neither cisco or meraki will recommend it. I needed to do something similar and my cisco rep was like “please don’t do this.”
I'm not surprised, wireless bridging is horrendous. Running that cable is worth the cost
Thanks for your input. I understand it’s not ideal and this is more a temporary solution. Have to connect a bunch of wired devices until a move. This will be for a few months and it’s my plan C let’s say...
I had this setup at home for a bit to see how it faired against 100Mbps powerlines. Sometimes it was great, sometimes it was garbage. Often needed rebooting.
I tried with CPL at home instead and yeah... not ideal either...
