it’s amazing that sx/sx2 boot does all those frames and things, i don’t get tired of loving it. but, to me, those last big frames don’t belong in the picture... not to argue, just to me, and maybe a few others...

drewmsmith•

you're not a fan of the trimax on the sx?

6
nicolasdangeloSX / NR100•

i personally don’t like that frame on any boot, but least of all on my favorite one.

3
drewmsmith•

Talk more about why you don't like that frame.

nicolasdangeloSX / NR100•

but not to argue...? also, i’m not an aggressive skater, so if that also disqualifies me somehow...

I probably use the Trimax least of all. I have freeskates if all I wanna do is skate fast, and the height causes me rubbing if I skate them for too long. But when I do use them, it’s also for doing tricks and grinds, not just skating around.

I love the boot I hate the soulplate. It's even worse than carbon's souls and I thought they did hit rock bottom :& but if u replace it with something better it evolves to a perfect skate :)

nicolasdangeloSX / NR100•

what's a good soulplate for the sx?

2
oKait0o•

If u got $$ symetrics or GAWDS if u don't usd seven.

uniq_ny•

lol You must be smoking great weed if you think carbon souls are better. Crazy talk. Carbon souls are slow as hell. Seba souls are harder and slide faster IMO

1
oKait0o•

Not really. They both shit in my opinion.

I did a similar thing but took it one step further- I got boots for each frame I have. Right now I have three pairs of RB solo boots (i move my intuitions from skate to skate) - I have a grinderblading skate set up with slimlines and antirockers, a pair of K2 prototype “big block” frames 64 4-down with a slight rocker, a pair of Kizer arrow’s 4 down 80mm with souls and my fitness pair are twister 80’s stock (i use the stock liner in those.) That covers me for any spot or type of skating I wanna do. I also have a pair of 2011 K2 UFS fatties with CRS suspension frame I set up just for cess slides (K2’s are far and away the best skate I’ve ever used for cess slides) but they aren’t THAT much better for cess sliding than my grinderblades so I don’t take them out often.

That’s doing too much, I’d just buy new skates.

Getting back into skating after a decade and I see a lot of people using multiple frame setups, are all skates now able to interchange like that? I was looking at picking up the SL mints specifically

2
jgbc83OP•

Basically, yes.

The Universal Frame System (UFS) was developed in something like 2002 (more or less, don’t quote me on that). So any aggressive skate is compatible with any frame designed for this system.

Freeskates and recreational skates use a different mounting system with a raise heel.

Hmm, you seem to have some room in the collection for a 90mm wheel. Also a 4 wheel large wheel frame. Maybe some kaltik Baats? ;-)

2
jgbc83OP•

True, although those would be freeskate setups. I have some separate freeskates with a 3x110mm setup that I find meet all my freeskating needs.

The one setup I would like to add is a 5-wheel Wizard frame, but I’ll have to save up for a while for that one haha. Maybe next year.

How's the Kaltik Flat V2 for ledges? Is there a lot of wheel bite? i'm think about buying them for park skating with metal ledge.

1
jgbc83OP•

They’re pretty good for grinding overall although the groove is best for rails. For ledges, the v1 has a more triangular shaped groove so is better, but then you’re stuck with smaller wheels. It depends whether speed or grinding is your priority. But compared to other 64mm+ frames I would say they are very good for grinding.

2
JeffGhost•

I thinking of using 65mm wheels since those are more popular here in Brazil....so the V1 would be the best for it?

1
jgbc83OP•

No. V1 is 60mm max. V2 is up to 68mm flat depending on the setup. Check the Kaltik website for details.

Woah, what are those gold wheels? I’ve never seen anything like that.

1
jgbc83OP•

Famus wheels. They have a big metal core and are very fast in smooth skateparks.

1
lorendias•

All you got left to pickup is a set of freestyle frames .

1
jgbc83OP•

Actually I have some lying around somewhere but literally never use them. I find that flat setups meet all my needs.
