Another Monday victim

Monat

Title is supposed to say MONAT, not Monday 🙄

So I’m originally from a small town in Pennsylvania. The schools are great, however many of my classmates still haven’t left their hometown, married their high school sweethearts, etc. Which is great, if it works for you and you’re happy. I’ve noticed a pattern though, that nearly every single one of them has fallen victim to an MLM.

One particular girl just recently posted on Facebook that she was going LIVE later that evening because her and her husband had an announcement. I immediately thought it could be one of two things: that they were pregnant with their third, or that they were announcing their involvement in an MLM.

Morbid curiosity got the better of me and I watched the video. It was about 6 minutes long of them just rambling about life, how the kids were, etc...and then the mention of her wanting to be a stay at home mom comes up. Being able to afford to stay home...you know how it goes.

And then comes the announcement. The wife has “partnered” with a “luxury hair care company” and is so excited to share how GOOD the products are good for us! 😬😬

Amongst the comments, it was easy to spot her upline (“I’m so excited for you! You’re gonna kill it gurrrlllll!!!!”) and other Monat shillers. Other folks would just comment “good luck” or “I thought for sure you guys were going to say you were pregnant again!” Not much enthusiasm from those who weren’t involved in the pyramid.

It’s a shame, because she is super sweet and not the type to willingly and knowingly scam someone. I predict she’ll get a few pity buys from family and friends, the inevitable reactions will occur to the products, and the sales will fizzle out. I also won’t be surprised if I get a copypasta message in the future as well.

Someone had posted here recently the income disclosure for Monat, and IIRC it took about 5-6 steps before someone could make close to a livable income selling that crap. It makes me sad for this couple because I know they want to afford for her to stay home, and instead of moving in the right direction they will likely be taking some steps backwards and losing money. Someone took advantage of them and lied to them, telling them they could do this by selling SHAMpoo to their Facebook friends. Ridiculous.
